This unit covers conducting wheeled dozer operations in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes: planning and preparing for operations; operating wheeled dozers; and carrying out operator maintenance.

Course Overview

RIIMPO309F – Conduct wheeled dozer operations

This course is designed to give you the theory and practical training on the operations of a wheeled dozer on  civil construction, coal, metalliferous and extractive mines or quarry sites.

The candidate or the employer must give access to the machine to conduct the training. The machine must be in good, operation and safe condition and meet with manufacturer guidelines and specifications.

You will learn how to operate a typical wheeled dozer and how to conduct safety procedures concerning wheeled dozer operations. We equip you with a sound overview and practical experience of how work should be carried out on site.

Topics Covered:

planning and preparing;
conducting machine pre-operational checks;
operation of wheeled dozers
stripping/spreading topsoil and materials, loading, cutting/boxing, backfilling;
selecting, removing and fitting attachments;
relocating the dozer;
carrying out machine operator maintenance;
and cleaning up.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.
