This unit covers conducting tracked dozer operations in the mining and extractive industries. It includes planning and preparing for operations, operating the dozer, carrying out post-operational procedures.
RIIMPO308F – Conduct tracked dozer operation
This course is designed to give you the theory and practical training on the operations of a tracked dozer on civil construction, coal, metalliferous and extractive mines or quarry sites.
You or your employer must give us access to the machine to conduct the training and the machine must in be in a working, operational and safe condition and meet with manufacturer guidelines and specifications.
You will learn how to operate a typical tracked dozer and how to conduct safety procedures concerning tracked dozer operations.
planning and preparing;
conducting machine pre-operational checks;
operation of tracked dozers
stripping/spreading topsoil and materials, loading, cutting/boxing, backfilling;
selecting, removing and fitting attachments;
relocating the dozer;
carrying out machine operator maintenance;
and cleaning up.
Have a current white card
Have a good understanding of the English language
Have access to the machine on a live work site
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.
