Defensive Driving Course

Our Defensive Driving Program has been carefully designed to provide ‘real world’ practical driving skills and the general knowledge you can intuitively apply each day to keep you safe. The course will comprise of a half day theory session (conducted in a classroom) and a half day practical session in your own vehicle which includes emergency braking and hazard avoidance exercises.

Course Overview

This Defensive Driving Course unit encourages proactive defensive driving to improve community and work site road safety. On sucessful completion of the course you will be issued with a nationally recognised RIIVEH305E – Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle Statement of Attainment.

Areas covered in the course are:

Identify four-wheel drive specific terms, terminology and techniques
Plan for minimal environmental impact
Perform pre-departure checks
Use four-wheel drive mode
Coordinate and recover a vehicle
Perform maintenance and minor repairs on four-wheel drive vehicles

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.

Nominal (supervised) hours represent the supervised structured learning and assessment activity required to sufficiently address the content of each course (acknowledging that progress can vary between learners).
