This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes, including planning, identifying hazards and assessing risk, and developing and implementing risk controls.

Course Overview

This ‘G2’ RIIRIS402E Carry out the Risk Management Processes course covers the skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes, including planning, identifying hazards and assessing risk, and developing and implementing risk controls.

This unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles overseeing and auditing the risk assessment process.

This competency is a statutory requirement according to mining legislation for certain occupational categories as deemed by the respective Mining Safety & Health Advisory Committees. 

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.

Course Structure

The course includes up-to-date knowledge on current regulations and legislation, including skills ability:
  • Determining the risk management process
  • Identifying hazards
  • Assessing risk
  • Identifying unacceptable risk and potential actions
  • Deciding on, implementing or facilitating of actions
  • Reviewing the implementation of action
  • Auditing the risk management process; and
  • Completing records and reports.

Course Delivery

This Refresher course is 100% Online

Support

You will be required to complete a pre-enrolment assessment as part of the enrolment process.  The pre-enrolment assessment assists in evaluating your suitability for the course and tailoring any required support services to meet your individual needs.  If required, a representative from Civil Safety may contact you to discuss alternative options or available support services to assist you with your course.
 
During your studies, you will receive feedback after each assessment/assignment and the trainer/assessor will be available to discuss the feedback or provide additional assistance or direction as appropriate. 

Certification

A qualification and transcript will be issued by Civil safety upon successful completion of course requirements, provided that all administrative requirements have been met and course fees are paid in full.  In these circumstances, a certificate will be issued within 30 days. For all refresher courses, a Statement of Attainments will be issued within 2 business days.
