Currently, the Australian Government's MySkills service has identified a shortage of skilled workers in various construction occupations, making this course highly valuable. You will graduate with in-demand skills, and employers are seeking qualified candidates to fill vacancies.
The course focuses on essential work health and safety requirements, and provides training in construction tools and materials, reading and interpreting plans, making measurements and calculations, and effective communication in the workplace. The course also incorporates a basic construction project, allowing you to apply these skills practically, just as you would in the workplace.

Successful completion of this course equips you with the skills and confidence to pursue apprenticeships in various construction occupations, such as bricklaying, carpentry, painting and decorating, and wall and floor tiling. This course can take up to nine months to achieve the Certificate I in Construction. The course is designed for in-person learning and is conducted at any of our training centres located in Queensland. Based on demand, other training venues and locations may become available throughout the year.

In total, you need to complete 12 nationally recognised units of competency. This qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and upon completion you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course however students will require:
- Sufficient level of language, literacy and numeracy is required for students to be able to complete the required assessments
- Basic computer skills
- Access to a computer and internet
