At Civil Safety, we believe that quality training can open doors and transform lives, and Brett Snodgrass is living proof of that.
We're incredibly proud to share that Brett, a Civil Safety student, has taken out the Vocational Student of the Year award for Tropical North Queensland at the 2025 Queensland Training Awards. This prestigious win was announced at the regional finals on Friday, 25 July at the Cairns Convention Centre, where Brett stood among a talented field of finalists from across the region.
Now, with this incredible achievement under his belt, Brett is gearing up to represent the Tropical North region at the Queensland Training Awards State Final, which will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, 13 September 2025. It's a massive step forward, and we couldn't be more proud of him.
Like many young men in regional Queensland, Brett faced his share of challenges growing up. But instead of letting these roadblocks define his future, he made a conscious decision to forge a new path through vocational education and training.
Brett enrolled with Civil Safety to do a Certificate III in Rural Operations, where he stood out for his exceptional work ethic and genuine passion for learning. He constantly went above and beyond, arriving early, staying late, and even coming in on his days off to support fellow students and clock up extra machine hours.
At Civil Safety, our goal has always been to deliver training that's practical, industry-relevant, and life-changing. Brett's success is a reflection of what happens when a dedicated student meets a strong training team.
From hands-on safety training to nationally recognised qualifications, Brett made the most of every opportunity during his time with us. He gained the confidence and credentials he needed to enter the workforce, and more importantly, he built the foundation for a new future.
His story is one that resonates deeply with many of our students, especially those who are looking for a second chance or a fresh start in industries like construction, mining, transport, and civil infrastructure. Brett is proof that with the right mindset and the right support, it's never too late to change direction and chase down a better life.
Being named Vocational Student of the Year for Tropical North Queensland is no small feat. The Queensland Training Awards are one of the state's most prestigious events for vocational education and training, celebrating individuals and organisations who are making real impact through skills and training.
This year, Brett stood out among a strong field of contenders. His story, character, and commitment to personal growth struck a chord with the judges, and he was recognised not only for his achievements in training but for his broader contributions to his community and his willingness to lead by example.
We're incredibly proud of Brett and everything he's achieved so far. From a Civil Safety student to a regional winner and now a state finalist, his journey is a powerful example of what can be accomplished through dedication, resilience, and high-quality training.
We'll be cheering him on at the State Final in September and know that no matter the outcome, he's already made a lasting impact.
