Civil Safety, along with our partner organisation On Common Country, are proud to support and sponsor the Queensland Youth Services LearnIT Driver Mentoring program in Townsville until early 2025.
The LearnIT Driver Mentoring Program assists drivers 25 and under who do not have access to a vehicle and provides them with training and supervision as they progress towards their Provisional (P1) drivers licence. For some young people, the steps it takes to complete these requirements are difficult and frequently impossible to achieve, preventing those in challenging or vulnerable positions from obtaining their driver’s licence altogether.
Talking about the impact the program has in his area, QYS Road Safety Program Coordinator, Murray Holm, said:
“The collaboration helps to improve the lives of our young people in the Townsville region, teaching them safe driving skills and supporting them through to a Provisional Drivers license. The program not only provides a much needed service for Townsville youth, but also helps to build confidence, leads to better mental health, employability, and independence for young people.”
