The G3 - RIIRIS601E course is designed for experienced workers in mining and high-risk industries who are responsible for developing, implementing, and reviewing risk management systems. You’ll learn how to:
Interpret and apply WHS and mining-specific legislation across jurisdictions.
Structure and lead the development of Risk Management Systems (RMS), Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) or Mine Safety Management System (MSMS) frameworks.
Establish site-specific Principal Hazard Management Plans (PHMP).
Implement risk processes.
Lead risk consultation, delegation, and supervision across departments and contractors.
Monitor risk performance using leading and lagging indicators and incident data.
Respond to site changes, critical events, and regulatory requirements through systematic reviews.
Document and defend risk decisions under legal scrutiny.

There are no formal entry requirements to enrol in this course; however students should have:
basic computer skills and access to the internet
sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

This depends on the study option you choose. The online course is self-paced and takes approximately 1-8 weeks (depending on your experience level and the amount of time you can allocate to your study and assessments). If you choose the face-to-face course, you will complete this over 4 consecutive days at one of our training facilities.
The G3 - RIIRIS601E Establish and Maintain Risk Management Systems course itself does not expire, as it is a nationally recognised unit of competency. Once you successfully complete it, you are issued a Statement of Attainment, which remains valid indefinitely.
However:
Some employers or mining sites may require refresher training or re-assessment every 2-5 years to ensure your knowledge is up to date with current legislation and site procedures.
