Certificate III in Agriculture (AHC30122) - Course Information
The Certificate III in Agriculture (AHC30122) provides you with the practical skills and applied knowledge to work confidently and competently in a range of farming and agricultural environments. You’ll build on core industry skills and learn how to:
Operate, maintain, and carry out basic servicing of farm machinery and equipment
Carry out livestock handling, feeding, monitoring, and welfare activities
Assist with and implement crop and pasture production tasks
Apply biosecurity, hygiene, and quarantine procedures in line with industry standards
Maintain, construct, and repair fences, yards, and general farm infrastructure
Support safe work practices and environmental sustainability on farms
Work effectively as part of a rural or agricultural team
Communicate clearly and contribute to day-to-day farm operations and record keeping
Training is built around real-world agricultural practices, ensuring you graduate with the confidence, practical capability, and workplace skills needed to succeed in a range of agricultural roles or progress further in the industry.
Course Delivery and Assessment
The Certificate III in Agriculture is delivered face-to-face, providing a practical and engaging learning experience that equips you with the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in agricultural and rural industries. Under the guidance of experienced trainers, you'll participate in hands-on activities and practical training that reflect real workplace tasks and conditions. You have 12 months to complete the course.
Assessment is competency-based, meaning you'll be evaluated on your ability to perform tasks and apply knowledge in realistic workplace scenarios. This includes:
Practical demonstrations of agricultural skills and workplace procedures
Observation of tasks in simulated or real work environments
Written assessments to confirm your understanding of key concepts
This practical training approach ensures you gain both the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to work safely and effectively across a range of agricultural operations, while developing valuable skills for employment and further study in the industry.
What You’ll Study

This certification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Career Pathways
Farmhand/Stationhand: assisting with daily farm operations, livestock care, and property maintenance.
Livestock Assistant: supporting the management, feeding, and health of animals on farms or stations.
Rural Operations Worker: contributing to various agricultural tasks including planting, harvesting, and machinery operation.
Farm Maintenance: maintaining farm infrastructure, machinery, fencing, and water systems.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however students will need:
Basic computer skills and internet access (for enrolment and online modules)
Adequate language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

Funding is Available For this Course
This course is approved under Career Start, the Queensland Government’s training initiative replacing the Certificate III Guarantee (effective 1 July 2025). Career Start provides eligible Queenslanders with government-subsidised training to help them begin a Certificate III qualification, and potentially an apprenticeship or traineeship, selected from priority or emerging industries. VETiS Funding - this course is eligible for VETiS (Vocational Education and Training in Schools) funding, which provides eligible secondary school students with the opportunity to undertake nationally-recognised training at little or no cost. VETiS funding helps students gain practical skills and qualifications while completing their senior secondary studies, giving them a head start in rural and agricultural industries.

The Certificate II in Agriculture course is approved under Career Start, the Queensland Government’s training initiative replacing the Certificate III Guarantee (effective 1 July 2025). Career Start provides eligible Queenslanders with government-subsidised training to help them begin a Certificate III qualification, and potentially an apprenticeship or traineeship, selected from priority or emerging industries. The Certificate II in Agriculture course takes approximately 3-6 months to complete. You will be required to complete online learning modules and attend face-to-face training for the practical assessments.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However is expected that you have basic computer skills, LLN competency, and a valid USI are required (if you don't have one you can apply at usi.gov.au or we can assist).
Your SOA will be issued within 3-5 business days of successfully completing the course and receiving payment.
