VERIFICATION OF COMPETENCY (VOC)

At Civil Safety, we understand that ensuring the competency of your workers is crucial to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace. That’s why we offer a range of high-quality VOC programs that can help you verify your workers’ skills and knowledge. Our VOCs are not only time-efficient and cost-effective but are also designed to meet the standard required per the VET system of qualifications and national units of competency.

You must already hold the competency for which you are seeking verification.

Our online verification service allows workers to undertake VOC assessments by answering questions and recording practical activities on their electronic device – mobile, ipad or laptop. This can all be completed while they are on the job.

Save time, money,  administration fees, printing costs, and no more filing or lost paperwork by completing your VOC’s online!

What is a VOC?

Australian employers must provide sufficient and suitable training to protect workers from health and safety risks at work. The Vocational Education and Training (VET) system ensures trainees meet a benchmark standard, however it is only able to guarantee that an operator is competent at the time they were assessed. As we know, skills degrade without regular application, and therefore a Verification of Competency (VOC) is used to verify the worker’s current competence and assists the employer to determine that the skill level of an operator is appropriate for the model and make of machinery and task.

For workers who are regularly applying their skills at work, a VOC can be done to challenge test them instead of full re-training. VOCs are a popular choice for employers to ensure workers’ current competency, but note not everyone’s VOC assessments are held to the same standard as VET units. At Civil Safety we map our VOC programs back to the VET unit of competency and contextualise them to the worksite to ensure an equal standard to VET is achieved.

Whether you need to re-sit a course or perform a VOC, our team at Civil Safety is here to help. Contact us today to learn more about how we can assist you in maintaining a safe and competent workforce.
