Standard 11 (a.k.a. S11 or Generic Induction) is the mandatory induction course you must complete in order to set foot and work on surface coal and metaliferous mine sites in Queensland.
The Standard 11 course covers six nationally recognised units of competency (as mandated by the Queensland Mining Safety Inspectorate) and prepares you for work in potentially dangerous surface mining environments.
The course combines the latest theoretical knowledge and safety practices with hands-on practical training - ensuring you graduate ready for work with the skills required for safe operations on mine sites.

In order to provide you with the best learning outcomes possible, this course is delivered via a mix of online learning and face-to-face training. You will be assigned an experienced Trainer Assessor for support throughout your course.
Complete at your own pace within 30 days. You will be assessed via a mix of online quiz questions.
Your trainer will give you practical tasks to complete (based off the information you've learned in your online theory module).
You will need to pass both steps in order to successfully complete the course.

Upon successful completion of the Standard 11 Induction course, you will be awarded with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and 6 nationally accredited units of competency:
RIIWHS201E - Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures.
RIIERR205D - Apply initial response first aid.
RIIGOV201E - Comply with site work processes/procedures.
RIIRIS201E - Conduct local risk control.
RIICOM201E - Communicate in the workplace.
RIIERR302E - Respond to local emergencies and incidents.
Your employer may require you to refresh these competencies every 2 to 5 years.

To be eligible to enrol in this course, you must:
Provide valid photo ID (driver's license, passport).
Be at least 15 years of age.
Internet connection and access to a desktop, laptop or tablet.
Have a sufficient level of language, literacy, and numeracy to complete the required assessments.
Enclosed shoes must be worn to the practical face-to-face training session.
It is a condition of enrolment in any nationally recognised training (accredited) course that you supply the training organisation with a valid unique student identifier (USI). If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

To book your course, choose your preferred location and date for the face-to-face practical training below. You will then receive an email with instructions to complete the online theory module, which typically takes a few hours to complete.
The Standard 11 Induction course fee is $695, with Afterpay available if required. View more information about using Afterpay to pay for your course.
Unfortunately, there is no funding available for the Standard 11 Induction course.
On successful completion of the Standard 11 course (both theory and practical components) and receipt of payment, your Statement of Attainment will be issued within 24-48 hours.
Some employers may require you to refresh these competencies every 2 to 5 years. If your renewal is approaching soon, we suggest you check with your employer whether you need to complete the Standard 11 Online Refresher Course before your certification expires.
There are no prerequisite requirements to enrol in the Standard 11 course. However, participants must:
Be at least 15 years of age.
Provide valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport).
Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to read, understand and follow instructions for safety in the workplace.
Internet connection and access to a desktop, laptop or tablet.
Wear enclosed shoes and casual attire (no singlets) to the practical training.
