Civil Safety Backs Rockhampton Boxing and Sport Promotions Club in 5-Year Sponsorship to Empower Local Youth

Civil Safety is proud to announce a $10,000, five-year sponsorship of the Rockhampton Boxing and Sports Promotions Club — a partnership that brings together corporate responsibility and community impact.

This long-term commitment reflects our shared goal of building safer, stronger communities by empowering young people through sport, mentorship, education, and holistic support.

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 32381) specialising in safety and compliance training across the mining, construction, and high-risk industries, we know that safer workplaces begin with stronger communities. By supporting the Rockhampton Boxing and Sports Promotions Club, we’re investing in the well-being, growth, and future of local youth – especially those doing it tough.

Rockhampton Boxing and Sport Promotions Club is not just about boxing. It’s about transformation.

The sporting club has become a vital community anchor in the Rockhampton and Mount Morgan regions. The organisation focuses on working with disadvantaged male and female youth, many of whom are considered at-risk students due to academic struggles, unstable home lives, mental health challenges, or interaction with the juvenile justice system.

From the moment a young person walks through their doors, they’re met with structure, support, and an opportunity to change their path. Programs offered by the club combine physical activity, emotional mentorship, life skills training, and educational support, creating a holistic approach that addresses not just symptoms but root causes of disadvantage and disengagement.

The club’s commitment to fostering physical and mental well-being, reducing youth crime, and promoting long-term community engagement closely mirrors the values Civil Safety upholds through its training and community initiatives.

Civil Safety’s sponsorship will directly support the installation of a brand new Australian-built Jim Bradley Boxing Ring, further enhancing the club’s ability to deliver high-quality training in a safe, professional environment. The ring will also feature Civil Safety’s branding on the ring skirts, symbolising our visible and ongoing commitment to this life-changing initiative.

But the sponsorship goes far beyond equipment. Over the next five years, Civil Safety’s support will help the club expand its programming, increase its outreach to local schools and families, and fund key mentoring and engagement efforts that keep young people connected and inspired.

One of the most powerful aspects of Rockhampton Boxing and Sport Promotion Club’s work is its focus on youth mentorship. Through structured coaching and leadership development, young people are supported in learning how to make positive decisions, communicate effectively, and navigate the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood.

The club has engaged North Rockhampton High School and Mount Morgan High School to run boxercise classes, offering an innovative combination of physical fitness and emotional support. These classes have been particularly impactful in improving student focus, reducing anxiety, and increasing school engagement, especially for those students who might otherwise be at-risk of falling through the cracks.

By blending fitness, education, and mental health awareness, these initiatives provide a strong, protective framework for youth, reducing their likelihood of engaging in unsafe or antisocial behaviour and empowering them to take control of their future.

“Our programs aim to equip young people with the tools they need to make informed choices,” said Rockhampton Boxing and Sport Promotions Club president Russell Thomas. “With Civil Safety’s help, we’ll be able to reach more youth and provide even greater support where it’s needed most.”

In regions where youth crime and disengagement are ongoing concerns, Rockhampton Boxing and Sport Promotions Club has positioned itself as part of the solution. Their programs are grounded in community engagement, working in partnership with community organisations and local schools to ensure that youth are not only diverted from crime but also guided toward meaningful, productive futures.

At Civil Safety, we see clear alignment between our educational ethos and the club’s mission.. As a leader in vocational training, we know that early intervention and skills development are key to long–term community transformation.

“We’re in the business of training people to live and work safely – and that starts with building strong foundations in our communities. Rockhampton Boxing and Sport Promotions Club doesn’t just teach kids how to box; like us, they teach them the fundamentals of life, improving themselves and their families, and providing themselves with a better future. We are incredibly proud to support this initiative for the next five years.” – Robert Kerridge, Civil Safety CEO and Founder

Civil Safety invites our clients, industry partners, and the wider Rockhampton and surrounding communities to support this incredible initiative.
