KQ - Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations
Introduction:
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to operate excavator operations to lift carry and place materials. This course applies to those working in site-based roles.
This Excavator course will also qualify you for jobs in the transport, mining, and agriculture industries.
This is a popular course with jobs in high demand. The holder of an excavator license is highly sought after in the construction industry. This qualification opens up a wide variety of building and construction jobs.
The course alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent.

Entry requirements
You need to be at least 16 years of age to undertake this course. Other than that there are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.If you have any concerns regarding the literacy or numeracy requirements, please contact student.services@civilsafety.edu.au for advice.
Successful completion
A Statement of Attainment is issued to participants who successfully complete all the required assessment tasks, have paid in full and have supplied all required supporting documentation.
Target Audience:
Minimum 18 years of age (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
Learning Outcomes:
- Plan and prepare for excavator operations.
- Operate excavator.
- Lift, carry and place materials
- Select, remove and fit attachments.
- Relocate the excavator.
- Carry out machine operator maintenance.
