The Conduct Civil Construction Scraper Operations (RIIMPO325) course provides the practical knowledge and skills needed to operate scrapers safely and effectively across a range of civil construction tasks.

You’ll learn about:

  • Legislation & Compliance: Understand WHS legislation, workplace procedures, and your responsibilities as a scraper operator.

  • Hazard Identification: Identify worksite hazards, underground services, ground conditions, and environmental factors that may affect scraper operations.

  • Scraper Equipment: Learn about scraper components, controls, and their safe applications.

  • Pre-Operational Checks & Maintenance: Conduct pre-start inspections, identify defects, and carry out basic equipment checks and maintenance.

  • Safe Operating Procedures: Operate scrapers safely and effectively to perform tasks such as cutting, loading, hauling, spreading, and levelling materials.

  • Scraper Operating Techniques: Develop practical skills to safely and efficiently move and distribute materials across civil construction sites.

  • Control Measures & Safety Planning: Apply risk controls, plan tasks, and follow site traffic management and safety procedures.

  • Emergency Procedures: Respond appropriately to equipment malfunctions, changing ground conditions, and workplace emergencies.

  • Communication & Reporting: Follow workplace communication procedures and report hazards, incidents, defects, and maintenance requirements.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to safely operate a scraper and perform a range of civil construction tasks while following workplace procedures and safety requirements.

Course Delivery and Assessment

In order to provide you with the best learning outcomes possible, this course is delivered via a mix of online learning and face-to-face training. You will be assigned an experienced Trainer Assessor for support throughout your course.

Step 1 - Complete Online Module (within 30 days) 

The online modules are self-paced and include assessments (quizzes, written tasks, or short exercises) to ensure understanding.

Step 2 - Attend 1 Day of Face-to-Face Training

Your trainer will give you practical tasks to complete based on the information you’ve learned in your online theory module.

You will need to pass both steps in order to successfully complete the course.
