For more than two years, Civil Safety has been proud to support the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) with training for its workforce, helping staff complete the BMA Core Induction and prepare for safe and productive careers across Queensland’s mining industry.
As BMA transitions its Core Induction training to an online delivery model from September 2026, Civil Safety’s relationship with BMA continues. We remain committed to supporting BMA employees with a range of mining, safety and professional development training.

The BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is one of Australia’s major metallurgical coal producers and operates several coal mines and related operations in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
With a large workforce operating in a high-risk industry, effective training and competency development are essential. Workers need the right skills, knowledge and qualifications to perform their roles safely and meet the requirements of the mining industry.
Supporting BMA with Core Induction Training
Since 2024, Civil Safety has been trusted by BMA to deliver BMA Core Induction training to members of its workforce.
The induction provides workers with essential information about working safely within BMA environments, while helping participants understand the site-specific expectations, procedures and requirements they need to meet before commencing work.
Through this ongoing training partnership, Civil Safety has supported BMA employees in completing their induction requirements and preparing to work safely and effectively across BMA mining operations.
We are proud to have played a role in supporting BMA and its workforce during this period, and value the trust BMA has placed in Civil Safety to deliver this important training.
BMA Core Induction Training
BMA Core Induction Moves Online
From Tuesday, 15 September 2026, BMA will commence delivering its Core Induction training online.
Civil Safety will continue accepting bookings for BMA Core Induction up to and including 14 September 2026. From 15 September, BMA workers will complete their Core Induction through BMA's online training process.
This change represents a shift in how the Core Induction is delivered, but it does not mean the end of the relationship between BMA and Civil Safety.
Continuing to Support BMA Workers
While BMA's Core Induction moves online, Civil Safety will continue supporting BMA employees with other important training and development requirements. Our ongoing support includes training such as:
BMA Standard 11
Civil Safety continues to have the BMA-approved Standard 11 on scope, allowing eligible workers to continue booking Standard 11 training through Civil Safety.
BMA Portal Upload Included - your completed training is uploaded directly to the BMA system against your worker profile.
Standard 11 training provides participants with important knowledge about working safely in the Queensland resources industry and is an important requirement for many people entering mining.
Standard 11 Refresher Training
For workers who already hold the required training and need to refresh their knowledge, Civil Safety can also support BMA employees with Standard 11 Refresher training.
Keeping knowledge and competencies current is an important part of maintaining a safe and capable workforce.
Certificate IV in Surface Extraction
Civil Safety also supports professional development through Certificate IV in Surface Extraction, helping developing supervisors build the skills and knowledge required for leadership and supervisory roles within the mining industry.
Training and qualifications such as these can play an important role in developing the next generation of mining supervisors and industry leaders.
Traineeships and Other Training Requirements
Civil Safety's support for BMA extends beyond individual courses. We can also assist with traineeships and other training requirements as they arise.
As workforce needs change, training requirements can change too. Our goal is to continue working with BMA to provide practical training solutions that support its employees and operational needs.
A Training Partnership That Continues
While the delivery of BMA Core Induction is changing, we look forward to continuing to support BMA workers through Standard 11, Standard 11 Refresher, Certificate IV in Surface Extraction, traineeships and other training requirements.
