Our Fire Extinguisher Training provides practical, hands-on instruction covering the different types of fire extinguishers, when to use them, how to select the appropriate extinguisher, and the correct techniques for responding safely to a small fire.
The training is ideal for workers, businesses and organisations looking to strengthen workplace fire safety and ensure staff have practical experience using portable fire extinguishers.
This course is available as a group booking for up to 15 participants, with individual sessions also available on request.

Fire Extinguisher (non-accredited) - Course Information
This course provides the practical skills and knowledge to identify common workplace fire hazards and respond safely to a small fire using the appropriate fire extinguisher. You’ll learn how different extinguishers work, which extinguisher to use for different types of fires, and how to operate an extinguisher safely and effectively.
You’ll learn about:
Fire Hazards: Identify common workplace fire hazards and understand how fires can start and spread.
Types of Fires: Understand the different classes of fire and the materials that can fuel them.
Fire Extinguishers: Identify common types of fire extinguishers and understand what each is designed to extinguish.
Extinguisher Selection: Select the appropriate extinguisher for different types of fires.
Safe Operation: Learn how to safely approach and operate a fire extinguisher during a small fire.
Practical Techniques: Develop hands-on skills in using a fire extinguisher effectively.
Personal Safety: Understand the risks involved in attempting to extinguish a fire and when it is safer to evacuate.
Emergency Response: Know what to do when a fire occurs, including raising the alarm, contacting emergency services and following workplace emergency procedures.
Fire Prevention: Understand basic measures that can help prevent workplace fires and minimise fire risks.
By the end of the course, you’ll have greater confidence in identifying fire hazards, selecting and safely using the appropriate fire extinguisher, and knowing when to take action or evacuate during a workplace fire emergency.
Course Delivery and Assessment
This course is delivered face-to-face over 1 hour.
You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in a controlled environment, learning how to identify different types of fires, select the appropriate fire extinguisher and safely use an extinguisher under the guidance of an experienced trainer.
The training includes:
Interactive discussions and knowledge checks throughout the day
Practical demonstrations of different types of fire extinguishers
Hands-on practice using a fire extinguisher in a controlled environment
Practical scenarios to develop confidence in responding to a small fire
Guidance and feedback from experienced trainers
As this is a non-accredited course, there is no formal competency-based assessment or nationally recognised unit of competency. Participants who successfully complete the training receive a Certificate of Completion.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion confirming your participation in the Fire Extinguisher Training.
The certificate recognises your completion of the training and practical activities covered during the course.
