Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment (CPPFES2005) - Course Information
The Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment (CPPFES2005) course provides practical training to help you respond safely and effectively to a fire emergency in the workplace. You’ll develop practical skills and knowledge in:
Fire Identification: Understand common workplace fire hazards, fire types, and the basic principles of fire behaviour.
Firefighting Equipment: Identify different types of first attack firefighting equipment and understand their appropriate applications.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate first attack firefighting equipment, including fire extinguishers and fire hose reels.
Fire Response: Follow appropriate procedures when responding to a fire, including raising the alarm and notifying emergency services.
Risk Assessment: Assess the situation, identify hazards, and determine whether it is safe to attempt first attack firefighting.
Emergency Procedures: Follow workplace emergency procedures and evacuation requirements during a fire emergency.
Personal Safety: Understand the limitations of first attack firefighting equipment and when to stop firefighting and evacuate.
All skills are assessed through practical, scenario-based activities to ensure you can safely and confidently use first attack firefighting equipment in a workplace emergency.
Course Delivery and Assessment
Step 1 - Complete Online Module (within 30 days)
The online modules are self-paced and include assessments (quizzes, written tasks, or short exercises) to ensure understanding.
Step 2 - Complete 1 day face-to-face training (appx 4 hours)
Your trainer will give you practical tasks to complete based on the information you’ve learned in the theory module.
You will need to pass both steps in order to successfully complete the course.

There are no formal entry requirements; however, students will need:
To be at least 16 years of age
Basic computer skills and internet access (for enrolment and communication)
Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don’t have one, you can apply at usi.gov.au or we can assist.

Construction Training Fund (CTF - WA)
Eligible apprentices, trainees, workers and business owners in WA’s building and construction industry can save up to 70% per course (metro) and 80% per course (regional) with CTF funding.
