Licence to Operate a Vehicle Loading Crane (CV) - over 10 tonnes
This course teaches you the skills and knowledge to safely operate a vehicle loading crane with a Maximum Rated Capacity (MRC) or 10 metre tonnes or more.

Completing this course alone does not give you a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL). Once you finish the course, you can apply for your HRWL via the WorkSafe QLD or WA websites.

Vehicle loading crane means a crane mounted on a vehicle for loading and unloading the vehicle.

A person undertaking this unit must hold:
  • A current National HRWL to perform dogging or a current certification for a specific VET course for HRWL to perform dogging that has been issued by, or on behalf of a WHS Regulator.
  • A person performing this work is required to hold a vehicle loading crane HRWL.

Funding Available

You may be eligible for Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding. Please check the eligibility HERE to see if you qualify for funding. Alternatively, you can contact Civil Safety on info@civilsafety.com.au or 1800 248 457 to speak with a staff member to see if you qualify.

High Risk Work Licenses

  • High-risk work licenses are valid for 5 years. Upon expiration, it is necessary to renew the license, a process that can be completed through the WHS QLD or WA websites.

  • If your high-risk work license has expired, you won't be recognised as a licensed operator until it is renewed.
  • You are granted a 12-month window to renew the license; however, if this period elapses, you'll need to undergo both the written and practical exams again.
  • It's important to note that a Verification of Competency (VOC) cannot be conducted on an expired license.
  • High risk licensing fees are an additional cost of $100.

Successful completion

A Statement of Attainment is issued to participants who successfully complete all the required assessment tasks, have paid in full and have supplied all required supporting documentation.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course‚ however, you must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.

If you have any concerns regarding the literacy or numeracy requirements, please contact student.services@civilsafety.edu.au for advice.
