Licence to Erect, Alter and Dismantle Scaffolding - Advanced Level (CPCCLSF4001) - Course Information
The Licence to Erect, Alter and Dismantle Scaffolding (Advanced) course provides advanced knowledge and hands-on experience to safely erect, alter, and dismantle complex scaffolding systems. You’ll build on your existing scaffolding experience, develop advanced practical skills, and learn to manage risks effectively across a range of specialised scaffold types and equipment. You’ll learn about:
Advanced Equipment & Scaffold Types: Safely work with cantilevered crane-loading platforms, cantilevered scaffolds, spur scaffolds, barrow ramps and sloping platforms, perimeter safety screens and shutters, mast climbing work platforms, and tube and coupler scaffolds, including covered ways and gantries.
Legislation & Compliance: Apply WHS requirements, relevant legislation, standards, and workplace procedures to advanced scaffolding operations.
Hazard Identification: Identify hazards associated with complex scaffolding systems and challenging work environments.
Risk Assessment & Planning: Plan advanced scaffold operations, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures before work begins.
Advanced Scaffold Erection & Dismantling: Safely erect, alter, and dismantle complex scaffolding structures in accordance with industry requirements and safe work practices.
Load Handling & Stability: Apply principles of scaffold stability, load distribution, and safe material handling when working with advanced scaffold structures.
Inspection & Maintenance: Inspect scaffolding components, identify defects, and ensure equipment remains safe and fit for use.
Emergency Procedures & Rescue: Respond appropriately to emergencies, scaffold failures, falls, and other incidents that may occur during advanced scaffolding operations.
Communication & Reporting: Effectively communicate with team members and report hazards, incidents, defects, and maintenance issues in line with workplace procedures.
By the end of the course, you’ll have the advanced skills, knowledge, and confidence to safely work with complex scaffolding systems, manage associated risks, and carry out advanced scaffolding operations in accordance with workplace safety requirements and regulations.
Course Delivery and Assessment
Due to the high-risk nature of advanced scaffolding work, the Licence to Erect, Alter and Dismantle Scaffolding (Advanced) course is delivered face-to-face over five full days. You’ll gain extensive hands-on experience in a controlled training environment, developing the advanced skills, confidence, and competence required for complex scaffolding operations. Throughout the course, you’ll receive direct guidance, practical support, and personalised feedback from experienced trainers.
High Risk Work Licences
After successfully completing this course, you can apply for your High Risk Work Licence (HRWL). You have 60 days from course completion to submit your application. HRWLs are valid for five years and can be applied for or renewed online via the WorkSafe QLD or WorkSafe WA websites. If your licence expires, you are no longer recognised as a licensed operator until it is renewed. WorkSafe provides a 12-month grace period for renewal; if this period passes, you will need to resit both the written and practical assessments.
If you are one of our corporate clients, we can apply for the licence on your behalf for an additional fee of $160 (which includes the WorkSafe fee).

Entry Requirements
You must satisfy each of the following criteria to enrol in this course:
You must be at least 18 years old, as required for High Risk Work Licences.
Wear steel-capped or safety boots and appropriate PPE to your training session.
Have basic computer skills and internet access for enrolment, communication, and course-related activities.
Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete the required training and assessments.
Hold a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI), which is mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don’t already have a USI, you can apply online through www.usi.gov.au, or we can assist you with the application.
Have the required prerequisite scaffolding skills, knowledge, and experience for the Advanced level, as applicable to the licensing and training requirements.

Eligible workers, employers, and job seekers in Queensland's building and construction industry can save up to 75-100% on courses, including, short courses, units of competency, and Certificate of Diploma qualifications. CSQ provides substantial funding, with a small student co-contribution usually required.
Construction Training Fund WA
Eligible apprentices, trainees, workers and business owners in WA's building and construction industry can save up to 70% on metro courses and 80% on regional courses with CTF funding. As an approved provider, we can handle the paperwork and claim process for you, so you only pay the gap while you upskill, get licences, and complete safety courses.
