CSQ Funding for Construction Training in Queensland

Access Subsidised Courses Through Civil Safety

If you work in Queensland's building and construction industry, keeping your skills current isn't just beneficial - it's essential. Whether you're looking to gain a new machinery ticket, obtain a high-risk work licence, improve your safety knowledge, or step into a supervisory role, training can open new career opportunities.

The good news? Eligible workers and employers can significantly reduce the cost of training through Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding.

As an approved CSQ training provider, Civil Safety offers a wide range of subsidised courses across Queensland, helping workers build skills, improve workplace safety, and advance their careers.

What is Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ)?

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent, industry-funded organisation dedicated to strengthening Queensland's building and construction workforce.

CSQ provides subsidies for nationally recognised training that helps:

  • Upskill existing workers

  • Address industry skill shortages

  • Improve workplace safety

  • Support career progression

  • Build a stronger and more capable construction workforce

By reducing training costs, CSQ makes it easier for workers and businesses to invest in professional development.

How does CSQ funding work?

CSQ funding helps eligible participants access nationally recognised training at a subsidised rate.

Whether you're an experienced operator wanting to add another machine ticket or a construction worker looking to gain a high-risk licence, funding can substantially reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.

CSQ funding supports:

  • Construction workers

  • Civil construction operators

  • Tradespeople

  • Supervisors and team leaders

  • Small business owners

  • Employers investing in staff development

  • Eligible unemployed workers seeking to re-enter the industry

Am I eligible for CSQ funding?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are employed in Queensland's building and construction industry or have been unemployed for less than six months.

  • Are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or an eligible visa holder who has worked in the industry for at least six months.

You must also:

  • Not be undertaking the training as part of an apprenticeship or traineeship.

  • Not currently be enrolled in a school program (excluding eligible school-based apprenticeships and traineeships).

  • Not have already completed the same unit of competency.

  • Not be seeking a Verification of Competency (VOC).

  • Not be funded by another source for the same training.

  • Meet CSQ participation limits for previously funded training.

If you're unsure whether you qualify, the Civil Safety team can help assess your eligibility.

Please note: An eligible participant may only be funded for a maximum of 8 short courses in total across either building or civil (including major projects) or a combination of both during the program delivery period. A limit of three high-risk work and three mobile plant units of competency apply.
